About Debbie

Born and raised in Michigan, Debbie has a Bachelors degree in Communications and a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University. For the past 25 years her career has been as a corporate meeting planner and event producer.

She and her husband (Gary) have two daughters and now live in Tucson, Arizona. Debbie’s favorite shooting sport is Tactical 3-Gun, utilizing a rifle, shotgun and handgun.  Her other hobbies include yoga, horseback riding and water sports.

In April 2004 she received the Cox Media "Search for Success" Woman of the Year Award.

In August 2002 Debbie was nominated by a national publication, Event Solutions Magazine, as “Site Professional of the Year”.

In June 2001 Debbie was honored by Working Woman Magazine, winning two awards for Entrepreneurial Excellence.

On a local level Debbie is the co-host of a local radio show "Business and Banter" airing on Saturday mornings on 690 AM (KVOI.com). Debbie is active with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO.)  Through NAWBO, Debbie was nominated for "Southern Arizona Small Business Owner of the Year," which she won in May 2001.

Education Level: MBA

Career History: Spanning over two decades in corporate meeting planning and event producer.  Built and managed a destination management company from 1991 to 2001. From 1994 to 2004 Debbie built and managed a corporate retreat facility in Tucson.

Current Career Achievements: Executive Producer of feature series, Ladies Adventure Camps.  Author of Babes With Bullets ™.  Motivational speaker on “Life Outside Your Comfort Zone” and “Life Is NOT a Dress Rehearsal.”  Freelance writer for various national magazines, including Woman’s Outlook.

Awards: Ferns won “Southern Arizona Small Business of the Year” in 2001.  In June 2002 she was honored by Working Woman Magazine (national publication), winning awards for Entrepreneurial Excellence. In April 2004 she was received an award from Cox Media as their annual “Success Woman of the Year.”

General Information: She and her husband (Gary) moved to Tucson with their two daughters in 1986.  Debbie is an active member of the Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA), the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).
